world

Our version of Ragnarok Online is...pretty much the official Ragnarok Online. I'm not sure I have to explain this, but if you've never played RO, alright:

Ragnarok Online is set in the world of Rune-Midgard. I'm not entirely sure about its history or its political situation. It generally involves a lot of Norse mythology, and other mythologies in concentrated locations (Louyang - Chinese, Amatsu - Japanese, Moscovia - Slavic etc. etc.). The general idea of the story is that monsters have been on the increase in recent times and the world needs people to go and fight them.

The capital city (I think) of Rune-Midgard is Prontera. It's a huge bustling city where the royal family resides. The small city?town? of Izlude is nearby and seems to form some sort of extension to Prontera. In addition, the guild headquarters for swordsmen types/acolyte types are located in Prontera and Izlude. These are what I think of as the most prestigious jobs in Rune-Midgard, or at least the ones that advertise the glory of fighting the most.

Nearby is the city of Geffen, where the headquarters for mages exists. It's kind of big, but not as big as Prontera. Down to the south of Prontera is Morroc, place of thieves. Somewhere out there is Payon, home to the guild of archers. On the coast is Alberta, where you can change job to merchant.

So that's about it. Many places are filled with tough monsters (as a person who never got her characters to second job on the official servers...I know this too well...particularly when the game updates seem to concern mostly the high-levelled players...) and some other large cities (such as Aldebaraan (however it's spelt) and Juno) are only accessible through dangerous routes.

Other places of note-
Lighthalzen: mobs in the dungeon that look like ghost clones of people and are extremely powerful
Einbroch: steampunk city
Amatsu: Japanese city
Louyang: Chinese city
Moscovia: Slavic (probably Russian?) city
Glast Heim: Haunted castle-town that used to be populated

Things that may be interesting to plot around in the future:
- Piamette
- doomed swords (Mysteltainn, Grimtooth, Executioner; currently working on earning a Mysteltainn for Tian in-game)
- Glast Heim

story

There are two separate groups: one that includes Tian (later branched off to Angels), and another that involves a small party that includes Arcturus.

order of the angeling

The backstory for Angeling that never was-

From memory,
1. There is a group of people who form the Order of the Angeling: Chara, a princess; Saiph, her brother; Arcturus, my character and a mad gunslinger; Lepus; and the Angeling.
2. For some reason, they're being hunted down like a band of criminals. (maybe they are; apparently Arc is guilty of murder, treason, and jaywalking.)
3. The Angeling is rather pushy.

I didn't hear much of it, and it seems that quite a bit of it was discussed over RO so there's nothing in my chat logs to refer to.

And that's pretty much it. A bit of plotting brought up:
1. The Angeling wants to achieve a goal (and some people are going after the Angeling) and offers the group protection in exchange for help.
2. The protection is channelled through Chara.
3. While Chara is alive, the rest of the group are, if not invincible, at least very powerful.
4. While Chara holds on to the Angeling's "death" (think Koschei the Immortal), the Angeling cannot die either.
5. However, Chara is vulnerable, so everyone who's going after the Angeling now goes after her instead, so everyone has to take care of her.
6. Apparently, there are other Orders built around monsters.

Goodness knows what happens next. Maybe it'll be discussed someday.
